Privacy policy

The short version: worksheets you create never leave your device, because there is nowhere for them to go. Google Analytics counts visits to the pages themselves, and it never sees anything inside a worksheet.

What happens when you build a worksheet

Every part of the process runs inside your browser using JavaScript: generating the questions, laying out the page, rendering the preview, and building the PDF. The site is a set of static files. There is no application server, no database and no API that worksheet content is sent to.

That means the questions you write, the student names you type into the header, the spelling lists you paste in, and the PDFs you download are all processed locally and are never transmitted anywhere.

What is stored on your device

• A draft of your current worksheet, so you do not lose it if you close the tab by accident. It lives in your browser's local storage.
• Worksheets you explicitly save, also in local storage. These are visible only in the browser you saved them in — they are not synced to any account and will not appear on another device.
• Two Google Analytics cookies, which stop a returning visitor being counted twice. The analytics section below explains exactly what they carry.

Clearing your browser data removes all of them. Your worksheets are not recoverable afterwards, because no copy exists anywhere else.

Share links

When you copy a share link, the entire worksheet is compressed into the part of the URL after the #symbol. Browsers never send that fragment to a web server, so even the act of opening a shared worksheet does not transmit its contents. The trade-off is that share links can be long, and anyone with the link can open the worksheet.

Fonts and assets

All fonts are served from this domain rather than from a third-party font service, so loading a page does not tell a font company anything about your visit.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which generators people actually use. Analytics and advertising are the things on this site that send anything at all from your device, so it is worth being precise about what they do and do not see. Every service involved is listed in full at the end of this section.

What it receives: the page address you visited, roughly where in the world you are, your browser and device type, and whether you arrived from a search engine or a link. It sets two cookies (_ga and one beginning _ga_) so a repeat visit is not counted as a new person.

What it does not receive: anything from inside a worksheet. Questions, spelling lists, student names and the PDFs themselves are never sent, because worksheet generation never leaves your browser in the first place.

One detail is worth spelling out, because it is the part that could have gone wrong. A share link carries the whole worksheet in the part of the address after the#, and a roster sheet has student names inside it. Analytics is configured to record only the origin, path and query of a page — the fragment is stripped before anything is sent — so opening a shared worksheet does not put its contents, or any child's name, into an analytics report.

Downloads and prints are counted. When a PDF is saved or a sheet is sent to the printer, an event records which generator produced it, how many pages it had, and whether it was a single sheet or the three-ability set. That is the whole of it. The worksheet's title is deliberately excluded, because a roster sheet's title is a list of children's names — the same reason the address fragment is stripped above. Printing is counted alongside saving because a teacher who prints straight to the classroom printer never saves a file, and counting only downloads would miss them entirely.

Clicking Buy Now is counted. On a product page, pressing Buy Now records which product it was, its listed price, and whether you used the button above or below the description. It records an intention, not a purchase: the checkout itself runs on Payhip and nothing about whether you completed it, or what you paid with, comes back to this site. The same click is reported to Meta, so that advertising there can be measured against people reaching a checkout rather than against clicks.

The same Google tag reports those downloads to Google Ads as a conversion, so that money spent advertising the site can be judged against worksheets people actually made rather than against clicks. It sends nothing beyond what the paragraph above describes, and the consent rules that govern everything else here govern it too.

Everything third-party that runs here, in full:Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion measurement, described above, and a Meta (Facebook) pixel, which records that a page was viewed so advertising on Meta's platforms can be measured the same way. No advertising network runs on this site at present: no banners are shown and none is requested, so nothing is loaded from an ad network on any page. The product pages additionally load Payhip, which runs the checkout when you buy a printable pack — the worksheet generators never load it. Nothing else runs anywhere on the site.

If you would rather not be counted, any tracker-blocking extension will stop all of it, as will your browser's “do not track” or blocking settings. Nothing on the site depends on analytics loading — every generator works identically with it blocked.

Advertising

There is none at the moment. No advertising network runs on this site: no banners are shown, no ad slots are reserved, and nothing is requested from an ad network on any page. That is a pause rather than a policy, and this section will describe what runs if advertising returns.

Two limits hold either way. Advertisers never receive anything from inside a worksheet — the same guarantee as analytics, and for the same reason: worksheet content is never transmitted at all. And adverts never print. Anything sent to your printer, and every PDF you download, contains only the worksheet.

Consent

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked before any analytics or advertising cookie is set. Until that choice is made nothing is stored: the site declares consent as denied for those regions before the Google tags are allowed to load, rather than setting cookies first and asking afterwards. Declining leaves every generator working exactly as it does otherwise — nothing on this site is gated behind accepting cookies.

Elsewhere no prompt is shown and the tags run by default. No advertising network is running, so there is nothing to opt out of beyond the measurement described above. Wherever you are, the blocking settings in your browser and any tracker-blocking extension are respected, because they stop the scripts loading at all.

Children's data

The site is intended for teachers, tutors and parents rather than for children using it directly, and it asks nobody for a name, an email or an age. Student names typed into a worksheet header exist only in your browser and in the PDF you download — they are never uploaded, and as described above they are deliberately kept out of analytics too.

Questions

This page describes how freeworksheetgenerator.com works today, and is dated above so you can see when it last changed. If what the site collects changes again, this page changes with it.
