The School Print face uses a single-storey a and g, which is how children are taught to form those letters by hand. Most standard fonts use a two-storey a that children are never asked to write.

A short number identifying the random seed used to generate the questions. Because generation is fully deterministic, the same code rebuilds the identical worksheet later.

You can use them freely in classrooms, tuition centres and at home, including where fees are charged for teaching. Reselling the worksheets themselves as a product is not the intent.

Check that your browser is not blocking downloads from the site. If the file still does not appear, use the Print button and choose “Save as PDF” as the destination.

The grid grows automatically to fit longer words. If a word still cannot be placed you will see a warning naming it — increase the grid size, or shorten the word.

Open any generator, set the grade, difficulty and number of questions, then print or download the PDF. The questions are generated rather than typed, and the preview updates beside the controls as you change anything.

Yes. On a small screen the controls and the worksheet preview become separate tabs so neither is squeezed. A tablet is the more comfortable size, but everything including the PDF download works on a phone.

In Word you would set up a table or tab stops, type each question, then adjust the spacing by hand. That is fine for a one-off, but you write every question yourself and there is no answer key. A generator is faster when the questions are routine — twenty subtraction sums, or this week's spelling list.

The approach is the same as Word: a table for the questions and manual spacing. Google Docs cannot generate practice questions or mark an answer key either, so the whole time cost sits with you. Use it when the content is genuinely bespoke, and a generator when it is practice.

Press Download PDF. The file is built in your browser as real vector text rather than a screenshot, so it stays sharp at any size. You can also use Print and choose Save as PDF if you prefer your browser's own dialog.

Open the spelling test, word scramble, word search or word tracing generator and set the word list to “My own words”, then paste your list one word per line. The same list can produce a practice copy, a blank test and a puzzle without retyping it.

Use alphabet tracing or word tracing and set “Handwriting guide lines” to four lines. You can colour them too — Notebook prints red outer lines with blue x-height lines, matching a standard four-line exercise book.

Set the grade at the top of the panel. It moves the text size, the default difficulty and the number ranges together. From there the smallest and largest number, and whether problems carry or borrow, can each be set directly.

Open the Answer key panel. “Extra pages” appends the key after the worksheet; “Filled in” prints the answers onto the sheet itself, which works well as a worked example.

Fewer than most people expect — ten to fifteen for kindergarten, around twenty for primary arithmetic. If a child gets the first ten right, raising the difficulty teaches more than adding another ten of the same.
